  1. Hello NHLGamers, For this season of ECL Elite we are tweaking the recurring segment that looks to detail the ‘hottest’, ‘coldest’ and… ‘mildest’? teams in Elite over the past week. There will be more of an emphasis towards the quantitative approach, so expect more graphs and fewer walls of text. Each article in this series will be released on Mondays and will thusly be based on the days in between each power ranking iteration. In addition to this it should be noted that each ranking will invariably be in some way biased as it is, at the end of the day, a subjective list. Note: Each article will be based off of results starting from the Monday, all the way up to (& including) Friday. Ergo, any games played over the weekend will generally end up being a week 'late' so to speak. The logic behind the ranking is admittedly a sort of internal subjective ranking that weighs up results, opposition 'strength' as well as thoughts on the general play during some games. As such a ranking is not 100% quantifiable in nature there will be some bias that creeps in. One thing I would like to make abundantly clear however is that points are not the be all and end all within these rankings; for instance, just because 3 teams have the same record does not mean they won't be ranked wildly differently, as the context behind said results are of great importance and simply cannot be understated. Previous rankings: Week 1 Week 2 - 1. Written in the Stars (8-0-0) 2. Almost Famous (7-1-0) 3. Deadly Phantoms HC (3-2-1) 4. FILADELPHIA (6-3-1) 5. Dynasty (6-2-0) 6. Butterfly Effect (2-2-0) 7. Rusty Blades (3-1-0) 8. Team Frosty (3-2-1) 9. Symphony (4-0-0) 10. AIK Hockey (1-4-1) 11. Synergy Hockey (3-3-0) 12. Unlucky Boys HC (1-5-0) 13. Northern Stars (1-4-3) 14. Bucketeers (1-3-0) 15. Resurrection (2-3-1) 16. HC Wildcard (1-9-0) Standings Timeline *The "playoff cut-off point", as well as the "relegation zone" lines are rough estimations of where the respective areas of Elite will fall once the regular season has been wrapped up. So, in other words, if a team is able to get over the green line, they 'should' stand a very good chance of making the playoffs, whilst if a team cannot make it past the red line, then there is a good chance that they will have to fight a relegation battle in order to assure their Elite spot for next season. Analysis Two weeks in and we are beginning to see some stratification at long last. I suppose, the elephant in the room would be Written just straight curb-stomping everyone and, well, what is there to say really? In fact, to summarise how ridiculous their start has been, if they decided to fall off the rails (relatively) and merely finished the season at a sedentary 1PT/G pace, they would end up with the same amount of points as they did last season. As for the mortals, aF has gone on a pretty strong run recently (7-1-0), potentially going a long way towards punching their first playoff berth in Elite. In addition to this, Dynasty have undergone a resurgence of sorts, climbing into the upper echelons after a fairly dismal first week. Joining them are Team Frosty and FILA who trail just behind them. On the flip side however, we can quite plainly see that HC Wildcard, Northern Stars & Unlucky Boys have flatlined with no recourse in sight. It is of course early, with us being ~1/3 of the way into the season for the most part, nevertheless, going on extended losing streaks at any time in the season can be especially deadly for playoff ambitions, especially with Elite looking like everyone can beat everyone (sans Written) for some inane reason. Projection Missing from last week due to time constraints were a pair of 'features', namely a projection and a prediction. The projection looks to, well, project where a team will finish based off of all the games they have played thus far. Prediction (Missing from last week) The second feature that was absent was a prediction of where the teams will fall once the dust has settled at the end of this season. Unlike the projection, the data used to assign points in the graphic below did not come from this ongoing season, instead it came from collating previous season results for each team (if possible), as well as some user bias to bring it all together. Think of this as similar to the 16 in 16 baseline (Week 0) we used in ECL 7. -- And with that, we can now conclude the second edition of ECL 8 Elite's power rankings. Hopefully next week we will see the stratification continue so that we can pick out any further trends with ease. ECL Elite Writer @MartindalexC

  2. Good job! Maybe the LA will give some assist points to you. I want to apologize for our stupid mistake. Btw also have to tell to whole community that after we saw our mistake, our player @Naikou88 spent whole night with our goalposts in his workroom and finally Checkmate has red goalpost😎 You can watch it (GFB not related to the case):

  3. Welcome to the second edition of the ECL 8 Lite: Player Of The Week! We've had another week go by and JaromirSniper68 has continued to put up the same kind of numbers (40 points) as in the first week, but he wasn’t the player we chose this time. Our player of the week doesn’t score points but instead slows down the opposing teams point production by keeping his own net clear of pucks. The goalie we are talking about is @buzee_ from Last Period. PSN-ID: buzee_ Team: Last Period Position: Goalie Games played this week: 8 (vs Old Farts, Russian Lightning, Devils in Disguise and Night hunters) Record: 7-0-1 Saves: 71 Goals against: 7 SV%: 91,0 Shutouts: 4 I was itching to get a hold of the outstanding goaltender for a few questions. Turns out buzee_ had taken a well deserved trip to warm Dubai, but still took the time to give us a few takes. You have been awarded this weeks Player of the week award. How do you feel about that? - It feels great, didn’t expect that at all. We had good games with the team and they deserve the recognition as much as I do. Describe yourself as a goalie. - Me as a goalie, that’s a tough one.. I guess I just try to play as simple as I can and the positioning is very important. Best games are those where opposition doesn’t have many chances because we defend the right areas. I'd say a lot of communication is the key. What kind of shots are the hardest to stop? - Couldn't really tell you that, but let’s say breakaways. Is there a shooter that is particularly hard to face? - We’ve had some good players in our group but can’t really recall any names. Thank you to buzee_ for answering these questions. Let's hope he can keep up this good form and help his team steal some important points for a successful run in ECL 8 Lite. Until next time! On behalf of the ECL Lite Writing Team, @Tonimo92

  5. Now that we started with all this ingame color thing. Where is the rule where team helmet needs to be the same color as jerseys? Player without helmet is more disturbing than that post color stuff imo.

  8. It’s time for the eight guy in our “Ten Days of Raccoons” series, and that’s the Pro newcomer @zanechkin. After spending three seasons playing in ECL Lite, the Lite veteran was acquired for a tryout by the Raccoons, which worked out eventually. On ice Sane makes things happen with his great puck playing and puck moving skills that he compounds with his scoring abilities. In the team Sane is just a basic pleasant dude, who enjoys playing the game like a real Pro, yet now in the Pro division as well. As a player, what do you want to bring to Raccoon Rampage? I want to help the team produce points and be productive myself. How long have you been playing EASHL for, and do you have any previous experience from ECL? EASHL has been an interest of mine for years, and ECL I began to play three seasons ago. What do you think are the team’s expectations for ECL in the future? I have high expectations for this team, and do think we can accomplish an promotion to the Elite… but let’s win the Pro first. What areas of your game would you like to develop in the future? I would like to improve my hands, which come from being more rapid with the puck. Also, it means I will need to develop my on ice vision and game literacy. What do you think are the key factors that should lead Raccoon Rampage to the success? I believe our great guys and superb team spirit should lead this team to be successful in the future. Who do you view as the rival team of Raccoon Rampage? Guess I got to go with Speedy Bros Hockey. And finally, does it make any sense to pay 50 euros to get past the bar queue in Lapland? Of course, if you feel that it’s the right move to make in that particular situation. That’s it for this time. Hope you liked this interview, and remember to tune in tomorrow when it’s time to have the team’s goaltender @Torpantienkovalchuk on our ninth part of the “Ten Days Of Raccoons”. #FeelTheRampage

  9. Missing helmets are pretty annoying especially if away team has dark shoulders in their away jerseys so it's harder to distinguish players in the heat of the moment.
    4 points
  10. I agree. Another example is a player with a dark hair or a dark skin tone as an away team, while the home team has dark helmets. Or vice versa.

  12. The Game Changers program itself isn't new, but if you're referring to the fact that currently both Game Changers that have daily contact with the dev team and provide feedback and content creators (that are not) are both branded as Game Changers - I agree they should not be called the same. I mean no offence by this to anyone, but it's simply confusing to those that are not in the program. I'm of course in a biased position, being a Game Changer (the first mentioned version), but I couldn't disagree more about the Game Changers (nor the developers) being clueless. Lots of people with different areas of expertise are giving both broad and detailed honest feedback on a daily basis. I agree this tuner is not what our NHLGamer community asked for, but sadly a big chunk of the critiques of the game have been spamming "bring back the beta tuner" and the studio decided to do that for a week to get the feedback. Let's face it - had they brought back only parts of the tuner, the same people would be complaining how "this is not the beta tuner". And thus here we are with the good and the bad parts of it. (These are my own observations and not some internal information) Be sure to fill out this survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FZMVS62 However, note that you can only do it once - so best to wait until you have played enough to give your thorough opinion.

  13. This just goes to show that EA and this new Game Changers program have no idea what they are doing with their game. 5 months of development out the window, as if feedback from previous months had nothing to work with. Unbelievable. But hey, as long as the they can milk the cash cow (hut) it's all good...

  15. So it seems! Well that settles the logic. In terms of color blindness I find the wording of the goal post rule pretty.. funky. "..This is due to color blindness concerns where individuals would not be able to see the goal if it was a specific color". I mean, it's not like the posts suddenly became invisible. The way the deficiencies in color sight work is that it is simply harder to distinguish between certain colors, say red-green or green-brown - can be others, but these are the most common. So in fact it matters less to color blind people if the posts are green or red than it does to people with a normal color sight. Over the years I've noticed it is a very confusing topic for anyone with normal color sight. There are some good websites that can help one understand how it works, here is one: https://www.color-blindness.com/coblis-color-blindness-simulator/ For example, I won't pass the most well-know Ishihara test, being red-green color "blind", but I score maximum points in hue color tests, as I guess most with similar condition do. With a color sight deficiency people learn to recognize colors by contrast - which is why for people like me the helmet rule was great but the goal post rule is non-sensical.

  17. Actually, I'd like to revise my comment. This gameplay is not 1.00 but some Frankenstein-y version of it. Reverting to the 1.00 tuner while keeping all the changes caused by game updates is a weird approach of comparing the "old" NHL 19 to the "new" NHL 19.

  18. This i get. But what did they do with the original beta feedback then, if they now go back to it just to get feedback from 6 months old tuner? 🤔

  19. Rulebook Update We ask all players to familiarize themselves with the rules, especially the captains of the teams. Team captains must be aware of the entire ruleset, as it includes a lot of important guidance that stays relevant throughout the entire season. Regular players on the other hand should be aware of member registration requirements, etiquette, fair play and game rules. Latest update 13.1.2019: As a reminder, here's an overview of the adjustments compared to ECL 7: League Administration Rulings NHLGamers League Administration (LA) team was informed about two rule violations in the ECL Pro Match Murohoki against Gotham Knights. The following two violations have been observed: 1. Gotham Knights used a non-default goal post color. According to rule 11.6.1.1 this is not allowed: “Goal posts must be the default red colour. This is due to colour blindness concerns where individuals would not be able to see the goal if it was a specific colour.” It is clearly visible from the Twitch clip that Gotham Knights played their home game with non-red goal posts. This is an infraction of the above mentioned rule, as another colour than the default red is used. Gotham Knights need to change the goal post color immediately for upcoming games. For now LA has decided to issue a warning to Gotham Knights, a repeated violation may result in point loss. 2. Goalie left the crease intentionally and interfered a skater from the opposing team. According to rule 9.2.2 this is not allowed. "In reference to 9.1 (specifically “Do not exploit game mechanics or bugs to put your opponent at a disadvantage.”), goalies are not allowed to leave their crease in an attempt to interfere with a skater from the opposing team.” Rules prohibit the goalie to leave their crease to interfere skaters of the opponent. The Twitch clip shows that Gotham Knights goalie Kefleri intentionally prevents Murohoki’s skater to be the first guy touching the puck. LA has decided to hand a two game suspension to the player. Kefleri will be suspended from Gotham Knights next scheduled matches against Nordic Stars. In case the player will be playing those games, the two game suspension will be taken over to the next two games and the games against the Nordic Stars will be ruled as wins for Nordic Stars irrespective of the actual result. The Penalty has been carried out 14.1.2019 games against Nordic Stars. ----- NHLGamers League Administration (LA) team was informed about rule violation in the ECL Elite Match Written In The Stars against HC Wildcard. The following violations have been observed: 1. The Twitch clip shows that HC Wildcard's goalie sumskoy26 intentionally prevents Written In The Stars skater to be the first guy touching the puck. LA has decided to hand a two game suspension to the player. Sumskoy26 will be suspended from HC Wildcard next scheduled matches against Almost Famous (LA consider behind fallen games as next). In case the player will be playing those games, the two game suspension will be taken over to the next two games and the games against the Almost Famous will be ruled as wins for Almost Famous irrespective of the actual result. Due to the sumskoy26's transfer, LA considers that the penalty has been carried out, because he was not in the HC Wildcard's roster following four games. - League Administration

  20. True, the wording should include some reference to the distinguishability of the posts, rather than the basic visible / not visible which it alludes to at the moment. The rule was drawn up due to a complaint by a member who said that they couldn't easily tell the difference between the posts and the crease due to their colour-blindness if my memory serves me correctly, so in effect this rule kills two birds with one stone. It accounts for any colour-blindness issues, as well as stopping people from changing the posts to colours that blend in with other aspects of the rink.

  30. The next and seventh guy up is the team’s substitute RW @JykkeL. Having played with numerous teams, Jykke has the most ECL experience in the group, starting all the way from season 3. A core guy and an original member Jykke brings that always so important veteran knowledge to the young team, usually with his relaxing way of reacting to different situations during games. As the eldest guy in the group Jykke is also the most mature and wisest. Jykke may throw a joke here and there, but other than that he doesn’t talk too much if unnecessary (except on Fridays), giving everyone on the team their own chance to play with peace and concentration. When trying to describe Jykke, you could say that he’s a consistent hard-working guy who literally lives in the dressing room, is at his best on 3v3 games as a goalie with a slight amount of alcohol running through his body, and is always down for some games. As a player, what do you want to bring to Raccoon Rampage? I want to spread positive energy and knowledge about healthy lifestyles. How long have you been playing EASHL for, and do you have any previous experience from ECL? I’ve been pucking the game for as far as a demented person can remember. I have experience from ECL in good and bad. What do you think are the team’s expectations for ECL in the future? I see a lot of growing potential in the group. Everything is possible if we hold on to the motivation and fun. What areas of your game would you like to develop in the future? I would like to learn how to spam the “X” and “R1” -buttons in a fitting rhythm. Most preferably in the same pace with the song “Tarkenee”. What do you think are the key factors that should lead Raccoon Rampage to the success? Our strong game and leadership. Also, the toe drags from our d-men should make some jaws drop. Who do you view as the rival team of Raccoon Rampage? Speedy Bros Hockey. Obviously. And finally, what is your normal weekend routine like? After a hard week of unemployment I open my recovery drink bottle on Friday. First I feed the youngest twins and then check out the homework of four elementary school children. After that I have a little virtual equipment maintenance session and in the evening I hold a four-hour free-skating session for muscle heating. On Saturday morning I go to a 10 km ski tour with every kid one by one. In the summer though you need to buy new skies every three weeks because of the asphalt wear. After skiing I go to the gym and buy HUT packs if some spare time. Then a few drop-in games in the evening. On Sundays I have a full day of yoga so that the mind is in right tune to take on the dressing room errors the whole evening… oh and then I wake up to a new restart on Monday. That's it for this time. Hope you liked this interview, and remember to tune in tomorrow when it's time to have the team's RW @zanechkin on our eight part of the "Ten Days of Raccoons". #FeelTheRampage

  32. The time has come for the team's second assistant captain, and third man to be interviewed in our Ten Days of Raccoons series. That’s our very own Eeduu99. @Eeduu aka “Lasse Kukkonen” was one of the team’s pickups made during last ECL off-season, with an idea of creating more possibilities to play in the team’s defensive end, while giving the guys chances to rest occasionally. Being a well-known guy in the community, it was easy to get going with this extroverted dude. Known to be a reliable defenseman in his career, Raccoon Rampage wanted to give a shot to this potential but at the same time an experienced guy, who could make the team's defensive lines even better. Lasse brings good vibes and energy to the locker room and uses his toughness on ice to give other guys chances to produce. Lasse has the same view to his play, describing himself with expressions such as “stay at home defenseman”, “most of my strengths are in my own zone” and “defense first, that’s what I’m paid to do”. As a player, what do you want to bring to Raccoon Rampage? I want to bring leadership and reliability to the team’s defense. I also want to help our goalies as much as I can, and if chance, support rushes to offensive zone. How long have you been playing EASHL for, and do you have any previous experience from ECL? This ongoing ECL season is really my third season playing a key role as one of the team’s first defenseman. It’s also my fourth season overall. EASHL really became my thing back in the later part of NHL 17. What do you think are the team’s expectations for ECL in the future? In Pro a top 4 team in the regular season and a playoff team. I believe we have all the chances to do so as the team’s relations become even closer and closer. What areas of your game would you like to develop in the future? My attacking game is still very careful. I always think the d-zone first, which cuts from my ability to be a productive in the o-zone. I also want to get some more imagination to my game. What do you think are the key factors that should lead Raccoon Rampage to the success? Our PK and PP have been great lately. Those have really affected our results positively. Who do you view as the rival team of Raccoon Rampage? Winning Cowabunga feels always personally great to me. And finally, why can’t your favorite team Rauman Lukko never win anything? Lukko starts to win as soon as our goalie starts to catch some pucks. That’s it for this time. Hope you liked this interview, and remember to tune in tomorrow when it’s time to have the team's goaltender @VesqGame on our fourth part of the “Ten Days Of Raccoons”. #FeelTheRampage
