  1. I remember when he joined the same drop in game with me (i guess NHL12) and i was so hyped cause i knew he was one of the best players that i had ever seen. I got a penalty shot and i scored with my special move and after the game i was surprised cause floor sent me a message and told me that he likes to use that same move also and after that we started to talk more and play some drop in games together, One of the greatest players all time but especially such an amazing and kind person, rest in peace Daniel ❤💚

  2. Here is my somewhat late observations from the beta: NHL Ones Played against the reigning champion (Griefff something) at one point and it seems that he had found a way to perform the insta-wrap consistently and in the process make the goalie jump out of his crease and thus creating an open goal. In every other aspect it was business as usual in Ones. In my opinion this game mode is unneccesary as it is not something you could build a scene around NHL THREES Drop-In (Arcade Threes) Same as above, might be fun for a bit but nothing that can be played competitively due to it's higly scripted nature compared to other modes EASHL Drop-Ins (Please specify if it is in 3s/6s/both) 6s and 3s: Could not spot any difference compared to last years edition. I am now talking about finding a game and the lobby. Gameplay and dressing room will be covered under other headers EASHL Club 3s Same as above except that this is NHL Threes unscripted and probably the preferred version of 3s for warmups in this community EASHL Club 6s The dressing room is kinda buggy as it does not refresh itself in real-time. This was easily fixed by either pressing unready/ready or by selecting a position. This has to be fixed until release though Nice feature that you could now switch between builds and gamertag of all the players present in the dressing room and in waiting lobby when an opponent was found by using the right analog stick Loading into a game felt smooth and I can't recall that anyone ever lost connection in any of the games I launched into Still miss the feature of a goalie becoming the 6th man when he is pulled A practice mode (It was promised? If it was, make it really happen!) AI skaters in World of Chel (specify mode + how many AI) EASHL 3s/6s/Drop-in: The only feedback I have on the AI skaters is that they seem to have a hard time scoring on breakaways and the seem to always do something "unnatural", meaning that they always resort to some kind of weird shot instead of challenging the goalie with a deke or a well-timed shot that is a bit harder to read AI goalies in World of Chel (specify mode) EASHL 3s/6s/Drop-in: As mentioned earlier, some players seem to have found a way to use the insta-wrap consistently and in the process make the goalie jump out of his crease and thus creating an open goal. This must be fixed until release! This will be devastating for people playing with/against AI goalies and I guess that this applies to versus/HUT as well. I don't have any video material available but maybe it's possible to reach out to the champ of Ones or something AI goalies in EASHL (specify if in 3s/6s) Same as above Customization: Player Classes + Traits/Specializations I don't know if this was a mistake but I really like the fact that the face-off trait was removed. I think that it limits the center as it was almost compulsory to have if you wanted win faceoffs Remove the need of leveling for traits/specialzations If the enforcer class is to included in this game, well then it needs an overhauld. I guess that you could buff the effects of hits and a fight won or that you could switch builds mid-game. But the bottom line is that this class is utterly useless at this point in my opinion The traits are quite balanced but of course there are traits more used than others. I would like return to this argument when the "meta" has been found and see what traits are less used and see if they could use an overhaul The goalie traits seem to be somewhat broken as the negative effects outweigh the positive in most cases and it seems that many goalies only use the specializations. An overhaul maybe? Customization: Gear (Casual + Pro gear + Gear Bags) They are good as they are and I would not put a penny on these if microtransactions were implemented Other World of Chel related feedback There should be some kind of function that you could re-map the menus so that one could load into the dressing room with one click instead of like 10 Online Vs. - AI Skaters in Online Vs. - AI Goalies in Online Vs. - Skating Feels smooth and I really like the fact that defenders are punished if the are facing towards the opponent when they receive the puck in transition. The pivoting is a bit slower and this is positive in my opinion as defenders probably are less prone to pinch thus creating a new dynamic in the game The backskating needs some more attention as it is still the go-to move for competitive players. It still is ridiculously effective Hitting (Collision Physics) A bit broken to be fair as the line between charging and a good hit is too thin. It seems that you need some speed regardless of weight to even be able to hit and that kinda defeats the purpose of having a physically stronger build Pokechecking Better than in NHL 19 as you seem to get punished for attempting a poke when positioned incorrectly but not as unforgiving as in the NHL 19 Beta Shooting Massive improvements! It's so nice to see that snipes finally work on manual goalies. Mainly because goalies now are punished more for bad positioning than before but it still feels as if the shooting mechanism has been revamped and they certainly feels good to be able to use the sniper class again. The animations also look great Rebound shots now look more natural Offensive Play (i.e. how did it feel to play offense? How easy was it? Was there a skill gap? Were there limitations?) I think both offense and defense are quite balanced and it seems that we may have a new kind of offensive dynamic coming up as shooting is more effective. In NHL 19, you could almost survive with just clogging up the slot but as a well aimed shot from the outside now is a major threat, teams might be forced to play more balanced Defensive Play (i.e. how did it feel to play defense? How easy was it? Was there a skill gap? Were there limitations?) Same as above Some of the defender builds may need some more work as it clearly is too popular to use grinder or even playmaker on defense. It should not be the first choice when playing defense Human Goalies in EASHL I really like the fact goalies now are punished even further for not challenging the shooter. For instance, if the opponents have the puck in the corner and you are just standing at the nearest post without holding it you will most likely be punished hard if you don't challenge the shooter if they happen to shoot it through the gap between you and the post or if they get a one-timer off the slot and shoot it to your far post. It seems that you can't rely on the animation to take care of the one-timer to the far post. This was way more lenient in NHL 19 in my opinion The animation made by the goalie when receiving a shot from the neutral zone is horrendeous. It's slow and you can in no way cancel it. I would much rather have the goalie move freely until the puck collides with the goalie and a plus would be if you could manually control the reception by manually using the right analog stick to shove the puck to the corner (timing it) instead of waiting for the animation by sitting in the butterfly position The new presentation and scoreboard (if you're having problems with it, let us know if you did the configuration properly when starting the beta for the first time) I actually like the placement of the scoreboard, good decision to move it to the bottom I mean, it's kinda hilarious with the pre-game dances and all but was that really necessary? Remove the unskippable replays and consider an observer function with replay controls Other (anything not covered here) As stated every year these feedback threads appear - consider adding an observer function so you can join games a spectator. This would take broadcasts to new heights Another thing that would be benificial in live tournaments - the ability to pause the game without a 30 second timer and instead only use a "ready"-function (players need to press ready to resume the game). Only viable in tournaments though, would be a drag in normal EASHL The automatic spin-o-rama when clicking L2 - why is it not an option? I want to turn it off! And while we are at it - why can't we manually assign buttons? No need to tamper with the analog stick functions, but remapping the buttons would be a nice feature

  3. Hello NHLGamer-Community, I am currently working on my Bachelor’s Thesis in Journalism and Public Relations at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. The topic I chose is Gaming Journalism and its challenges going from print to online, generally speaking. The goal of my thesis is to analyse established print publications as well as their online counterparts, may they be written, filmed or voiced in e.g. podcasts. Based on these analysis and expert interviews I will evaluate the problems Gaming Journalism faces and define recommendations how the industry can adapt to an evolving market. That’s where I need your guy’s help. Although it’s a german thesis and my focus lies on the german market, I have come to a point where it would be interesting to see if my findings correspond with the european market, as well. I am therefore looking to interview people who work or have worked in the field of gaming journalism, run or have run a podcast or similar media in the past, consider themselves avid users of gaming journalistic publications and so forth. I really hope you guys can help me out with this because, frankly and surprisingly, acquiring german experts is hard enough to begin. If you’d like to have more information, or you are interested right from the get-go let me know! Kind regards Mark

  5. 16 teams go to playoffs: TOP 5 in each group + the best PPG takes the last spot. Within the groups, the seeding works as follows: PPG average during the regular season Wins Head to Head record Goal Difference Goals scored As per our discussion during the FCL, we have decided to honor the following tie-breakers to form the playoff pairs: Group Placement PPG Average Goal Difference Goals Scored In other words: Group winners are seeded #1-3 Group runner-ups #4-6 3rd place #7-9 4th place #10-12 5th place #13-15 The team with the best PPG outside of the top 5 group spots will be seeded #16 (if there are only two teams from the same group fighting for this spot, the group tie-breakers will be used) Sorry about that - wrong setting in the league settings.

  6. Very very sad news. I want to show My respect and tell a Little bit. Every time i played him in a 1 on 1 game against him he Always showed such a fair play and positive text. I have learned a lot from him. He even sent me a messege when i qualified for the gwc congrationlated me even though we didnt knew eachother. This say a lot about who he was and we should all try to be more of how Daniel was. Life is Hard and unfair. Rip Daniel

  7. NHL Ones = Not a huge fan of the mode, played one game, so can´t say much, but goalies were pretty poor. For me, only reason to play it is to get those hockey bags, play for one game every day and maybe you get those fancy Sweden skates early. NHL THREES Drop-In (Arcade Threes) = N/A EASHL Drop-Ins (Please specify if it is in 3s/6s/both) = Played couple drop- ins, both 6s and 3s, so not a huge sample size - I think you could leave even when the timer was on red if not enough players, that was nice. Other than that did not see anything too ´wild´ compared to 19. Outdoor action not for me. EASHL Club 3s = NA EASHL Club 6s = As mentioned already here, dressing room was buggy. Also, sometimes when heading into a game it looked like someone dropped like you might see in NHL 19, but in all reality everybody into the game, happened few times. AI skaters in World of Chel (specify mode + how many AI) = N/A AI goalies in World of Chel (specify mode) = N/A AI goalies in EASHL (specify if in 3s/6s) = N/A Customization: Player Classes + Traits/Specializations = I also liked the fact that centers are not forced to use the faceoff trait - everybody on the same line, now we perhaps see more variety on what builds people use! If I remember correctly defensive defender had 85 in passing without any traits used = nice. About time defensive defender gets some love. Customization: Gear (Casual + Pro gear + Gear Bags) = I can live without them, I guess it´s nice to have some skates and sticks that you can use, but other than that - I would get more enjoyment out of designing my own skates and using whatever stick. Other World of Chel related feedback = N/A Online Vs. = N/A AI Skaters in Online Vs. = N/A AI Goalies in Online Vs. = N/A Skating = Skating back first was a viable tactic, so could work on that EVEN if it was maybe not as bad as in NHL 19. Felt a lot better overall when comparing to NHL 19, I don´t know what it was, skating, animations or combination of both, but beta felt a lot better. Hitting (Collision Physics) = Might have to bump it or something, not as effective as you might think, especially for defenders it´s annoying when ´nothing´ happens if you line up a solid hit. Pokechecking = Tried couple times, puck left the stick nicely and might be a real weapon if used correctly. (Learned not to use it too much in previous versions, so small sample size) Shooting = Improved backhander is great, close range top shelf = oh my. Managed to score couple goals against a human G with a direct shot, sniper build indeed had real danger feel to it, fun to play when you can actually ´trust´ in your main weapon - the shot. I did not feel the shooting being overpowered or anything, shooting one timer from blueline for example did not result in a goal automatically, just the shots that you might expect, free shots from close range. Offensive Play (i.e. how did it feel to play offense? How easy was it? Was there a skill gap? Were there limitations?) = I think you need to pay more attention where you pass and how you pass, players who know how to move and playing with players who know how to move are even more valuable now, pucks are more easily intercepted, but you can also make little passes in small space more easily, so like minokin mentioned - balance is good. (Using backhander and shooting in general was fun) Defensive Play (i.e. how did it feel to play defense? How easy was it? Was there a skill gap? Were there limitations?) = Going for the hit was not a good move usually, felt like nothing good came out of it, so just better to stay calm and ´passive´, which might be right most of the time anyways, but sometimes would be nice if you can use the body bit more and know a good hit results in at least the guy with the puck feeling it. Great that you can play knowing that your player actually intercepts passes, proper shutdown D-mode activated! If you positioned yourself poorly - you paid the price for it. Overall, I liked the defensive play even after first it maybe felt bit awkward with the puck bouncing around ´wildly´ in front of your net, if you went closer - good chance you pushed in yourself for good own goal. Human Goalies in EASHL = Not much I can say, did not play G, but those wild pucks near the nets were something, for example if puck was under the goalie - what can you do as a defensive player? Offensive guys could just poke spam it in, not sure what that is, but should look into it. The new presentation and scoreboard (if you're having problems with it, let us know if you did the configuration properly when starting the beta for the first time) = turned the scoreboard off right away, I don´t want to configurate anything - how hard it is to give simple scoreboard? Score, period and how much is left on the period? I don´t want anything else. Presentation without the dances was ok, cool to see some stats. Other (anything not covered here) = Beta was a big improvement compared to NHL 19, I would not change much in all honesty, maybe look into goalies and how they could close the puck better when it´s under them, but as mentioned did not play G, so no idea in reality, but beta was fun to play both on offense and in defense. I hope the actual game is close to it - going to be good!

  8. Make it so you can cancel a saucer pass without doing a one hand tuck every time (I didn't try it in beta, just know that it's in nhl 19) Pucks go over the boards too much Need to get rid of the poke animation where you press R1 and he does a super slow motion poke check which is a penalty 99% of the time Also need to drastically reduce tripping penalties when the puck is between the attacker and the defender (e.g. 1v1 zone entrance without L2)

  10. Ahh oops! I thought the joke was that the draft stream was going to go on until next year. 7th of September, because we believe the early access of NHL 20 will kick off around the 8th (5 days early).

  11. I started playing with Daniel in 2009 with Swedish Tigers and then followed him to Northern Stars the year after. He was hands down my favourite player to play with. Always classy. Altough he was just a kid at the time he was mature and respectful. Paid so much interest to details. So insanely good at scoring goals. I think it was because of Ilya Kovalchuk he loved Atlanta Trashers so much. Which was a bit strange at the time. I also think that’s why he liked number 17. It is sad I never get to meet him in person. He surely made an impression even though I only knew him during a couple of years. My sincere condolences to family and friends. /Daniel Park (Shimboo)

  13. As someone whose sibling had to fight through the same illness as he did it's devastating to see how unlucky him and his family was. My sister fortunately had a successful surgery to remove her tumor and to this day I'm scared thinking about what could have happened back then. It's a terrible situation to be in as a family member - even harder to fight the fight yourself. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends and teammates. Rest in Peace, Daniel. #retire17

  14. Daniel was the best both on and off the ice. That you had to go at such early age is truly heartbreaking and unfair. I will forever cherish playing against and with you in NHL (and Trials). Always classy ... You were the best! Now show the big man in heaven who's boss Rest in peace floor you will be missed ❤️

  15. Sometimes life makes you really stop to think. This is one of those moments. It is unfair, life. Unfair that some are taken away too young. This is why we should always appreciate the ones who are close to us. Appreciate life, not just take it as granted. I did not knew Floor personally, but people who knew him have already shared us how great guy he was. May there be strenght for his close ones in these times of grief. Rest in peace Daniel, rest in peace...

  18. Hard to find the words... I'd like to extend my deepest condolences to all of Daniels family and friends ❤️ I am truly sorry for your loss, Mattias and Viktor. While the rest of our NHL community will mourn his passing with heavy hearts, none more than you and the rest of NOS who had the chance to enjoy his company on (and off) the virtual ice for the better part of a decade. While it must have pained you to do so, I thank you both for writing this beautiful text. I feel like it gave me one last chance to get to know the man behind the controller just a little bit better. I'll always be thankful for that. Rest in peace floorbandy_king, you will be missed ❤️

  20. NHLGamers, That's another one in the books! What a weekend we've had at Assembly Summer 2019. Four tremendously skilled teams showed up to battle for the brightest medal, but one prevailed as champion - HAVU Gaming! It's been a year of success for the team, as they've now acquired three major titles during NHL 19. The ECL 8 and Spring League championships under the Written In The Stars banner and now the FCL championship in their new green HAVU Gaming colours. All in all, we can state that HAVU was the team to beat in NHL 19. 21. FLOU ❤️ As many of you already know our beloved friend and teammate,
Daniel Anderzon - @Floor17, got hospitalized earlier this year after doctors through an MRI discovered a tumour in his brain. Prior to the discovery Daniel had been struggling with major seizures of migraine over the course of a month, forcing him to take a step back from gaming, NHL and the community. As doctors found out the tumour Wouldn't be operable, they put him on radiation therapy earlier this spring. Since then his body has been fighting off the cancer bravely - at times seeing progress with the tumour shrinking in size, at times being near collapse due to the tumour and treatment itself. This took its toll on Daniel. Earlier this week his body simply couldn't take anymore and we received the news that Daniel has passed away, surrounded by his family. As someone who's been around the community from day one, being one of the most well known players around, a pioneer for the entire scene for almost decade and a friend to so many, we would like to highlight who Daniel really was as a person. Having the opportunity to not only see the gamertag Floorbandy king or PSN-ID Floor17, but to really see the person behind it, is something we'll always treasure and the true value of being a part of Northern Stars through all these years. Gaming was what brought us together and what held us together. Ever since day one, 10 years ago, Daniel never really changed that much. Daniel were always Daniel, regardless if you got to know him at 16 or 26. Always humble, always a team player. Always the one wanting to play the support roles when the rest of us fooled around in other games, always the one taking a step back to help someone else taking three steps forward. Always ready to praise an opponent when beaten fair and square. It really defined him as a person. He always held his composure, both when playing and arguing, and has always been one of the major cornerstones in our team. Not only as a player, but as a leader in his own way and most importantly a friend to literally everyone who has ever come and gone throughout the years. The answer to how a team with cHIIMEERa and ma0niii as captains can last for a decade is as simple as Floor17. The youngest one of us, but yet the one who always kept our feet on the ground. We've always laughed at how he's always been like the grumpy but wise old man we've always needed. It's admirable how much he knew about players and people in our community. If anyone ever would deserve one of those top fan badges for anything, it'd be Daniel for our NHL-community. He always loved to see and hear about people's opinions, with or without joining the discussion, and always loved to keep track on players in every team at NHLGamer and loved to watch all of the hardcore VS-players take it out on each other in tournaments and GWC. It's probably pretty common to easily get a bit salty and grow tired of a scene once you've been on top of that stage yourself, but for Daniel it was always a pleasure to watch others succeed just as much as being a part of it himself. It feels surreal to write this text, as we're still in shock as it haven't really been able to sunk in yet. The constant in form of Daniel that's always been there for us when it comes down to NHL and Northern Stars is no more, it feels like we've lost our younger brother and this community has surely lost one of their brightest stars. We're thankful for every moment spent playing, talking and hanging out with you IRL throughout the years. You're a proof that anyone who says video games isn't a social thing and that video games can't be as fulfilling and connective as sports is wrong. You're missed and will never be forgotten. We love you. @ma0niii & @cHIIMEERa - - - A word from @Kenu, NHLGamer: On behalf of NHLGamer, I would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family, friends and teammates of Daniel in this tragic loss. Daniel was a beloved member of the community since day one and participated in all of our ECL seasons to date, racking up 199 games as a skater (123+163=286) and 2 games between the pipes (2W, 88,88%, 0,99 GAA, 1 SO). He was featured in one of our Hidden Gems articles during the ECL 5 season - you can read it here. Daniel will be forever missed, but not forgotten. In memoriam, we want to share with you a video highlighting some nice plays during Daniel's career with Northern Stars: ❤️ UPDATE: We set up a fundraiser with @cHIIMEERa for Daniel's family to help with the expenses related to his passing and the funeral. You can access it here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/qbnw2n-for-the-family-of-daniel-quotfloor17quot-anderzon
