  2. I had the chance to play with Ampu while being part of my first summer cup adventure here on PS4 and we kept in touch over the years, occasionally filling a spot when it was needed. He stood out to me as a calm and caring gentleman and showed his many strengths on the virtual ice. It's sad to hear these news, but hopefully you are in a better place now ❤️ My deepest condoleances to the family and friends of Sami. May you rest in peace

  4. I guess we never say these things when people are still alive but Im proud about Sami and his ECL career. Remember him from I think PS3 times and way back. Gentleman that didnt deserve to go this early. Might go back to playing winger since hes not going to wreck me anymore. All the love to his family and kids. ❤️ Rest Easy, Sami.

  6. Remember playing against Ampuhaukka a lot, there was a time when it felt like our clubs met at least once every week, good battles were rolling down the left meant you were going to get hit - always a fan of his playing style. Sometimes we played game or two together in the same team, always supportive when my good old stone hands failed to bring desired results. Even shared ECL team for a brief time back in the day. Sad news, really sad. All the best to the family and friends, Rip Ampuhaukka

  7. Sami was the guy for me who gave me a chance to try to play at higher level of play and I couldn't have dreamed of having a more supportive person to play with. Through him I have met some great people in this community and so I'm extremely sad to not be able to play with him ever again or hear his "porilainen charmi" in full display. Thank you Sami for believing in me and I wish that you're now in a happier place. Rest in peace dear captain, keep laying that body wherever you are.

  8. When I first decided to start playing Defender on a regular basis, I knew nothing about anything. Sami replied to my writing on NHLGamers free agent -topic and asked if I was interested in becoming to her defender partner. I answered "hell f*cking yes" and it didn't take long for us to set-up SBH together with @mir02k1 and @Pettersson12. At that time I hardly even knew the buttons to the game, but Sami believed in me and many, many times he told me that I'm really talented player and one day I'll be playing really high level. Sami has been like a mentor to me during my career. Life is not fair. Sometimes it gives and sometimes it takes. R.I.P, my friend.

  9. It was shock for me and i had no words at all. But now I want to say, it was really nice guy, with great humour and unshakable love of life. My goaltendijg story started only because of Sami, i played nowhere in europe, but he trusted me and we played some seasons together... He was always dont mind about names and status, Sami always looked at you as an equal, so it’s not surprising how many great players (and incredible persons) were on his team. Sami was a brave guy in all ways in his life, job, family, nhl, great fkn attitude. Good bye my speedy brother, I love you

  11. A big loss to many members of this community and a shock for even more. My condolences to the ones close to him. I only had a privilege to play with him a few times. But sharing a psn party with him left an impact to me and I believe to others also. Really one of the genuinely nicest guys to play with. What a loss.. Farewell my fellow hard hitting right defender. May you rest in peace.

  12. Rest in peace. He was like father to me and my closest friend on ps community, we shared all good things and bad things. He was allways standing with me. I dont really have words, Sami have had very tough year 2020. I dont say this because he died, but it was my dream to play in same team with Ampu. But now its Speedy without him. We had awesome moments with Sami, Great player and even greater person. I will miss you so f*cking much! 😭 LEGENDS NEVER DIE!

  14. Sami was biggest reason why I belonged this community. We had over 4 year bromance. Great seasons with SBH, so many long nights in versus games, inside jokes, you always tried show me the right way and you always tried motivate me. We had so many memories so i cant write everything. I was about to make comeback and ask you to create SBH one more time, but now its too late.. See you on the other side, friend.

  16. NHLGamers, We have received the devastating news that a beloved member of the community - Sami @Ampuhaukka Luoma passed away at the young age of 41 this past Friday. Sami was a family man and a long-time community member, who enjoyed spending his pastime playing the NHL series in good company. Over the years several of us had the privilege to play alongside this man and he touched many of our lives in one way or another. To honor Sami's memory, some of his past teammates and friends have shared some of their memories below: - @Tzon93 - @l-Furyan-l - @Lamsa A word from @Kenu on behalf of NHLGamer: I would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family, friends and teammates of Sami in this tragic loss. I was in touch with Sami in early January and he spoke about his plans to build a team together with @pelimies80 and he had some questions around the upcoming season. It's hard to accept that that discussion was the last chance I got to talk to him. I didn't know Sami well, but I did talk a lot of ECL with him throughout the years and also remember trying out for his team back in the day. He was always polite, positive and fun to talk to and I he will be missed. During his career of 227 games as a right defenseman in the ECL Sami racked up 26 goals and 125 assists, totalling 151 points. Aside from the the ECL, he was also active in a lot of our other leagues. You can see his full career stats below. The staff at NHLGamer extends our heartfelt condolences to everyone touched by Sami during his lifetime. Please also share your memory in the comment section if you wish to do so.
