    ECL 5 - Hidden Gems: Floor17

    Floor17- Northern Stars (NOS)

ECL Hidden Gems is a concept that was created by @The_Alpha_Furyan and @pnordetun (patovic). The idea evolved out of discussions concerning what type of content patovic himself would like to see more of at NHLGamer.com and what kind of texts he'd be most interested in writing. Hidden Gems, for the purposes of this feature, means players that the author feels haven't quite gotten their time to shine at NHLGamer or players that aren't getting full credit for the skill they bring to the table. This is the first edition in a six-part series that patovic has written so do enjoy the witty writing of "pato" and leave a comment with your thoughts on the piece.

I might find myself out on thin ice over some pretty deep waters right about now, but the fact is that Northern Stars veteran Daniel Anderzon aka @Floor17 doesn't quite get the recognition he deserves in the ECL community. This is a player who is a 5-time ECL veteran (and lord knows how many 6v6 tournaments before that!) that routinely manages to control all aspects off the game, in all zones off the ice. Not only that, he is a beast at the Versus portion of the game as well, having won one Swedish championship and making it far in various other tournaments.

As the great coach Marc Crawford once said:

"If you want him to shut down the opponents best player, he will get it done. You want him to score goals? He will get it done. You want him to be a playmaker? He'll get it done. You need him to be physical? He'll get it done. He is so gifted and the list just goes on and on".

You can trace the origins of the so-called "floorbandyking" back to the old Xbox team "Swedish Tigers" that featured such legends as ivve83 and unbroken-anders (man, where did those guys go?). Floor17 was truly a dominating force in those early Xbox years and have continued to build his legacy in EASHL ever since. At the beginning of his virtual career, he was considered by many to be more of a pure offensive weapon. This went on for years and especially once he found himself playing with @cHIIMEERa on the Swedish powerhouse Northern Stars. The last few seasons, Floor17 has managed to enhance his repertoire to include an ability to play both wing and defenseman at a very high level, as well as the occasional stint at goaltender.

Flash forward to today where NOS had Finnish superstars @tbnantti and @plee999 join the team for ECL 5, it has been quite interesting to see how the old "curveshot master" has adapted to the situation and found an integral two-way role on the roster where he has been a big contributor to the teams' success.

To summarize: Floor is awesome at videogame hockey and wins stuff, that is just what he does. It ain't easy winning all the time - if it were, everyone would be doing it!

PS. Mean rumours back in the day said that the King of Floorbandy used the "99 overall glitch" in EASHL... and that it was possibly @eyebiz (the old rascal!) who had the hackset to hook him up - but if you ask me? Nah, Floor17 didn't need it then and he doesn't need it now - this man is nothing but skill and determination ;)

I cringe every time I read my old GT xD But back then I didn't give a * that it was a hilarious error my 15 year old self made when I was forced to change my gamertag.

PS. I tried the NHL 11 boost pack glitch a few games in OTP only to remove it rather instantly. Later that year most of NOS ran players with only 75 speed because it was a broken attribute. It didn't stop people from accusing us of having 99 speed. The good old days :)

That guy is a virtual hockey legend! He was once so dominating on the Xbox 360 that most people considered him the best player in the Xbox EHL scene. Maybe current-gen EASHL doesn't lend itself to such individual superiority, maybe the influx of young ECL stars has overshadowed floorbandy king, or maybe he just isn't the player he used to be? Or maybe I have it wrong and he's as good as ever, if not better. It's just that he's not been nearly as prominent as he was back in the day.

One thing is for sure: he was the king of Xbox EHL with a consistently superior level of play, and there's no possible way all that skill might have disappeared. Maybe it all comes down to the changed role you point to in this article. Whatever the case may be, whatever the reason he is now a hidden gem, as a former Xbox 360 player myself it's great to see floorbandy king still going and playing for the highest distinction in the ECL.

This is a really nice idea. There is a lot of players that dont get the attention they do deserve.

@Floor17 isnt that familiar player to me like some "rockstars of EASHL"  becouse I wasnt really active for couple first years of PS4 and before that I didnt play with same console as him. So yeah, nice to read this kind of stuff. 👍

Ah, the memories looking back at NOS history together with this guy.

See him dominate the EASHL and EHL-scene for so many years. I kinda feel sorry for whoever doesn’t know the Floorbandy King-tag nowadays, they just missed out on such a great time of the NHL-series.

Humble and a teamplayer above all 🥇

Thats weird, i thought the "who" part was covered in this article. :/

@pnordetun you need to step your game up, everybody needs to be given the chance to understand the content!

Irony aside, great post. Flou is a beast. He has the smallest ego for his skill level. Contributes a lot but never gets enough praise <3

I dont wanna be a Debbie downer or anything, and I know that Floor is a good player etc. (Kenu, relax), BUT:

Since when is Floor considered to be a "hidden gem"? Isn't that like saying: "Newsflash, Tarasenko is good at scoring goals"?

Initially i reacted like you to this article. But then i realised that the new kids on the block simply have no way of knowing that floor was considered the best 6vs6 player in the game back in NHL11. All those old stats/awards/medals dissapeared along with consolehockey unfortunately :/

    ^This.

We do have most of the EHL info stored, but I can't give you any promises on when it will be introduced to our system.

I don't remember tbh, but I spoke about this with @MartindalexC today and told him that I assume it is whatever was on the most recent site. Will have to put a pin in that.

Ah okey. Cuz it was pretty much the same problem when they changed the site from the ".net version" to the other one, that a lot of players lost both personal stats and trophys.
For an example, mr. CraigChrizt (for those who remember him) lost almost 2000 points from tournaments in NHL 09-11, and Dizzy got all his points only because he still was in the team, the team that both craig and dizzy participated with in the last tournament at consolehockey.net

That team, (my team), had 2 wins against a russian team with a total of 64-0 in 2 games. Dizzy was the only guy left in that team, so the site gave him all 64 points from that game, and the truth was that he didn't played a single game in that tournament, but the new site (consolehockey.com) thought so.

And yes, he also used this to get into other teams later on. and a record of 120 points in like 4 games looks pretty good xD

So if it's possible, and you still have it, in a future project.

Add stats from consolehockey.net for tournaments in NHL09-12
    And stats from consolehockey.com -||- NHL13-15

Yup, Svamp is right. The old Consolehockey stats are not 100% correct. It's many years ago, but I remember that one update basically made them useless. Just looking at my personal page I can see some incorrect stats with only a couple of minutes of control checking.

My personal opinion is that it's not even worth bringing them over here.

That's a shame! Any further information about what's wrong about them - or just completely off?
