Privacy statement

In the spirit of GDPR, we at NHLGamer are issuing this statement to increase transparency and clarify to our users what kind of information the website utilizes as well as how that information is being processed and stored. You might have noticed several service providers updating their policies, and so are we. The underlying reason is the General Data Protection Regulation issued by the European Union, starting 25.5.2018.

Information collected

The grounds for processing personal information at NHLGamer.com are for the sake of the functionality of our website. When registering, members can provide information such as their name, birth date, PSN ID, Xbox Gamertags, and e-mail address. The extent of information that the user wants to share can be limited. In addition to this, NHLGamer is collecting IP-data from our users in order to ensure fair use of the website. For example, this data helps in investigating cases where duplicate users are suspected. Every user has the right to request additional information about the processing of their personal information.

Cookies

Much like every other website, NHLGamer uses cookies. This shouldn’t be anything new to experienced users of the World Wide Web. Cookies are small files that store information about your online behavior, utilized in optimizing your experience at NHLGamer.com. Although very detailed information is collected, it is done anonymously, and this information will not be traced back to any specific user.

Processing of information

As stated previously, all information collected by NHLGamer is done for the sake of the functionality of the website. Information is stored in a database on servers physically located in Finland. A restricted amount of site administrators and the service provider (Scene Group Oy) has access to information in this database. In some rare maintenance cases, temporary access to the community forum files and admin tools is provided to Invision Power Services. Parties involved in the data storing process are all GDPR compliant.

Third parties

Information gathered by NHLGamer can be transferred to third parties when organizing tournaments or events, where this information is required for the registration of competitors. In addition to using this information to register a competitor, information can be used in news stories where competitors can be mentioned by name and for eventual organizing of travel and accommodation. Individual information is never transferred to third parties for the sake of marketing.
